An injured dog was stretchered to safety with his owner after falling into a gully in the Lake District.
Labrador Ron hurt his leg and was unable to walk after slipping into the grassy ravine during a fell walk on Wednesday, Aug. 18.
His owner carried him for some distance through Sleddale Forest but eventually found himself unable to go any further.
Cumbria Police called in Kendal Mountain Search and Rescue Team, whose volunteers headed onto the fell and located the stranded pair.
Rescuers carefully lifting Ron onto a mountain stretcher and securing him in place ahead of the journey to safety.
The team sought advice from its vet by phone and treated Ron at the scene.
His devoted owner then climbed onto the stretcher beside him to provide reassurance and plenty of fuss as volunteers sledded them both down the fell.
A spokesperson for Kendal Mountain Search and Rescue Team, which is staffed entirely by volunteers, said: "The team was deployed and soon found Ron waiting patiently with his owner.
"With advice over the phone from our team vet, Ron was treated on scene and was soon ready to be stretchered off - to keep Ron reassured his owner was only too happy to lie on the stretcher while the team sledded them down the fell.
"We wish Ron a full recovery and plenty of treats."
