SHREVEPORT, La. — With recent heavy rain and flooding across the area, this week’s “Answering the Call” focuses on staying safe behind the wheel in dangerous conditions.Shreveport police urge drivers to use extreme caution and avoid flooded roadways whenever possible.“Just six inches of floodwater can sweep a person off their feet, and two feet can move a vehicle,” said Shreveport police Cpl. Chris Bordelon, emphasizing how quickly conditions can become life-threatening.Bordelon stresses that drivers should never attempt to go around barricades or drive through high water, as it can stall vehicles and put both drivers and first responders at risk. If you’re unsure about road conditions, authorities say the safest choice is to turn around and find another route.
