HOPE, Ark. - Hope Baking Company, Inc. announced it will permanently cease operations at its Hope manufacturing facility on or around July 25, eliminating approximately 250 jobs.
In an internal letter distributed to employees on July 18, company leadership stated that the decision followed months of exhaustive efforts to secure necessary financing and explore alternative business solutions to keep the plant open. Despite these efforts, the company was unable to secure the resources required to continue operations.
Affected staff will receive final wages and accrued unused paid time off. Workers were instructed to return all company-owned property—including equipment, keys, badges, and tools—within two business days of their separation date.
The closure comes roughly two and a half years after the company announced a $37 million expansion project at the facility. Hempstead County Economic Development officials and state leaders stated they are coordinating with regional workforce development agencies to assist displaced workers with job resources, training, and transition services.
