HOPE, Ark. — Hope Public Schools is seeking applicants to fill a vacancy on its board of education following the resignation of Zone 2 board member Bubba Powers, effective Saturday.The appointee will serve the remainder of the unexpired term.
To qualify, applicants must be registered voters residing within the district and Zone 2. Candidates must submit a petition stating their intention to run, along with signatures from at least 20 qualified Zone 2 electors.
All application materials and signed petitions must be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. Sept. 4.
While an online interest form is available, school officials noted that it does not replace the required petition. Petitions and supporting documents may be submitted online or delivered in person to the Hope Public Schools Administration Building, 601 W. Sixth St., Hope, Ark., 71801, to the attention of Jonathan Crossley.

The board will consider applicants during a public meeting at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at the administration building. Each candidate will receive at least 5 minutes to address the board, followed by individual questions. All discussion and voting will occur in open session, and the appointment will be determined by a majority vote.
