BATON ROUGE, La. — Governor Jeff Landry declared a state of emergency Thursday for six Louisiana parishes following severe weather from Tropical Storm Arthur.

The declaration affects Avoyelles, Lafourche, Pointe Coupee, St. Landry, St. Tammany, and Terrebonne parishes.

The executive order activates the state emergency response and recovery program. This allows for direct state assistance to support local operations at the parish level.

State officials are working with local emergency managers to assess damages and coordinate recovery resources in the impacted areas.
