BOSSIER CITY, La. -- Bossier City leaders have unveiled a new branding campaign aimed at reshaping the city's image and positioning it as more than a bedroom community known for its casinos and Brookshire Arena.
The city's new slogan, "A City on the Move," reflects efforts to make Bossier City a destination for residents and visitors, particularly from Thursday through Sunday, with new entertainment, dining and recreational options.
"It is a privilege to serve a city that continues to grow, innovate and create opportunities for its residents, businesses and future generations," city officials said during the campaign launch.
One of the biggest developments is coming to the Louisiana Boardwalk, where Chef Gabriel Balderas is preparing to open The Brine, his third restaurant and first in Bossier City.
"I do believe that we have a great community, and the people who support us have supported us from the beginning," Balderas said.
The project includes more than a new waterfront dining destination. As part of the agreement, Balderas will also operate the Boardwalk's longtime carousel, which is expected to reopen alongside a nearby refreshment stand.
"'A City on the Move' is not just a tagline for us, but it is our reality that we live every single day," Bossier City Council member Chris Smith said.
Elected leaders said the rebranding effort is timely and necessary, noting it has been decades since Bossier City last made a major push to redefine its public image.
City officials also expect recently relaxed open container rules within the Louisiana Boardwalk district to help attract more visitors and encourage longer stays.
Additional announcements for the Boardwalk are expected, although officials said it is too early to release details. One prospective tenant said negotiations are nearing completion to open an art venue and glow paintball attraction at the shopping and entertainment district.
