SHREVEPORT, La. - The Caddo Parish Commission will vote on a resolution Thursday urging data center operators to adopt rainwater harvesting practices.
This proposal is in response to concerns about data center demands on local water systems.
Supporters say rainwater harvesting could reduce demand on the area's water supply given the area's high amount of rain. Opponents say rainwater collection could reduce the amount of water returning to aquifers.
The resolution also calls for improved treatment of wastewater made by data center cooling systems.
If approved, the measure would serve as a formal recommendation to developers.
