TEXARKANA, Texas - A Vietnam veteran benefit car show rolled into the AutoZone parking lot on West 7th Street in Texarkana on Saturday.

Upwards of 80 cars were showcased with no registration fee required, and donations were collected for the Vietnam Veterans Association Chapter #278.

All monies raised will be used to assist local veterans in need of work around their house, such as help with electric or water bills.

"Our local group, we have monthly meetings and we discuss applications that have been turned in for assistance," said

VVA#278 Member and ArkLaHomaTex Corvette Club President Johnny Richardson. "So, they have to be fully vetted, we have to all agree on what we are going to do, how much we're going to pay, what we want to do to help them; we've helped some of them with just paying their water bill where they couldn't cover it, we have built special access ramps and stuff for some of them that needed help with getting in and out of their house, so anything we can do to help them. We've had a few that had a full burnout where we will go through and do a whole bunch to help them."

The car show was located at AutoZone's main distribution hub for the region.
