ELM GROVE, La. — A major stretch of Highway 71 in Bossier Parish will remain closed through Friday night following a train derailment and vehicle collision, according to the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The roadway is shut down between Highway 154 and Highway 527 at the Smith Road intersection while crews continue clearing the wreckage and investigating the crash.
Authorities are advising drivers to continue avoiding the area and plan for extended delays by utilizing alternative travel routes until the highway reopens.
