SHREVEPORT, La. — A judge has ruled that Caddo District Judge John Moseley can remain on the case involving Jhadryan Green's request for a bond reduction. Moseley is one of the public officials Green is accused of threatening.
Judge Don Hathaway Jr. issued the ruling Monday, clearing the way for Moseley to continue presiding over Green's bond reduction proceedings.
Green is currently being held on a $6 million bond following his April arrest. Investigators with the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office say Green made a series of threatening statements during multiple Facebook Live broadcasts that targeted three victims, including public officials.
Authorities alleged that the threats included references to shooting and physically assaulting the victims and traveling to a specific location to carry out acts of violence.
Investigators also said Green used simulated violent gestures and attempted to encourage others to participate in or support the threats.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Green was arrested April 15 after detectives and members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force took him into custody following an investigation into the alleged online threats.
Green faces multiple charges, including terrorizing, cyberstalking, a hate crime charge and two counts of intimidation of a public official. According to court records, Green is also charged with possession of a Schedule II narcotic without a prescription.
The $6 million bond has drawn attention because it amounts to $1 million for each of the six charges Green faces. The bond amount has sparked debate on social media, with some questioning whether it is excessive while others argue the allegations involving threats against public officials warrant the high bond.
Green is expected to return to court Wednesday for a hearing on his request to have the bond reduced. The hearing will proceed before Judge Moseley following Hathaway's ruling that the judge can remain on the case.
