ATHENS, La. - Two people were killed and three others were injured in a car crash in Claiborne Parish Saturday morning, according to Louisiana State Police.
Troopers responded to the crash around 11:35 a.m. on Louisiana Highway 9 near Louisiana Highway 518.
Investigators said a 2022 Ram pickup truck was traveling south on Highway 9 when it left the roadway and struck a tree.
Two passengers lost their lives in the crash. Katie Barber, 22, of Tylertown, Ms., and Benson Brady, 14, of Kentwood were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and two additional passengers suffered moderate injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
State police said impairment is not suspected, but routine toxicology samples were collected and submitted for analysis.
The crash is under investigation.
