NATCHITOCHES, La. - A man was arrested Sunday after leading Natchitoches Sheriff's deputies on a reckless vehicle chase throughout residential neighborhoods.

According to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office, deputies were patrolling the 600 block of Bermuda Road around 8 a.m. when they noticed a suspicious Chevrolet Tahoe parked near a farm in an area that has recently experienced thefts.

Deputies say the driver, identified as Oscar Moody, 47, refused commands to stop and get out of his vehicle and sped away in reverse before accelerating to speeds of 60 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Moody attempted to brake check deputies multiple times. He eventually stopped at a home on Bermuda Road, locked his keys inside his vehicle, and ran. Officers caught up with him and subdued him with a taser when he resisted arrest.

Moody was booked at the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center on charges of aggravated flight, resisting arrest with force, reckless operation of a vehicle, speeding and driving under suspension.

An arrest warrant was obtained before searching the vehicle which was impounded.

The investigation is ongoing.
