MONROE, La. -- Just three days after being crowned Miss Louisiana 2026, Shelby Bordelon is still reflecting on the moment her name was announced as the winner.
Bordelon, who represents Iberville Parish, joined the KTBS 3 p.m. newscast to discuss her victory and the opportunities that come with the title.
Looking back at video from Sunday night's competition, Bordelon said the experience remains emotional.
"That video will forever make me emotional. I wish I could relive it a million times over and over again," she said. "The joy and the support that I had from our first runner-up, Katherine McCullars, who is currently Miss University of Louisiana Monroe, means the world to me. It has been an absolute honor and joy to be a part of such an empowering organization."
As Miss Louisiana, Bordelon hopes to use her platform to bring greater attention to Claire's Promise, a nonprofit organization she created to help reduce impaired driving.
She is also setting her sights on the Miss America competition, which will be held in Florida in September.
"I actually attended Miss America for the first time ever in person this past year to watch our Miss Louisiana 2025 compete," Bordelon said. "And I think from that moment, it set an even bigger fire under me to work so hard and dedicate my entire year to bettering myself to where I could represent Louisiana in the best way possible on the Miss America stage."
Bordelon will take part in one of her first official appearances as Miss Louisiana on Thursday when she attends the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame's introduction of its newest class of inductees.
