SHREVEPORT, La. -- Travelers arriving at Shreveport Regional Airport now have a new way to explore the ArkLaTex before leaving the terminal.
Regional leaders and Visit Shreveport-Bossier officials gathered Wednesday to cut the ribbon on a new interactive visitor kiosk located in the airport's baggage claim area. The high-tech display is designed to help visitors plan their trips, discover local attractions and create personalized itineraries.
The kiosk arrives as passenger traffic continues to grow at the airport. Officials said the facility recently welcomed more than 800,000 travelers for the year, representing a 12% increase over the previous year.
In addition to providing information about local destinations, the kiosk offers interactive features, including photo opportunities with digital backgrounds and the ability to build an itinerary that can be sent directly to a visitor's phone.
"Previously, when visitors came into the airport, they had some brochures to pick up, some little information here and there, but they didn't really have a true experience," said Stacy Brown, president of Visit Shreveport-Bossier. "Now they can come in, they can get a selfie with one of our great backgrounds. They can develop an itinerary, send it to their phone, and have a great experience throughout Shreveport."
The new kiosk is part of broader efforts to enhance tourism and improve the visitor experience as air travel to the region continues to expand.
Shreveport Regional Airport recently added Chicago as its 10th direct flight destination, providing travelers with additional connections to destinations across Canada and beyond.
