SHREVEPORT, La. -- The Shreveport Police Department’s DWI Unit had a record-setting Independence Day weekend, making 13 DWI arrests between Thursday and Sunday.

"While many people were celebrating the Fourth of July safely, others made the dangerous decision to get behind the wheel impaired. SPD officers were out in force and stayed busy throughout the holiday weekend removing those drivers from our roadways," Cpl. Chris Bordelon said Monday in a news release.

The arrests included multiple first-offense DWIs, along with several repeat offenders:

  • Demedrios Casten – DWI second offense
  • Warda Rahman – DWI first offense
  • Allan Gibson – DWI first offense
  • Bruce Tramiel – DWI third offense
  • Ye Qui – DWI first offense
  • Taylor Dennis – DWI first offense
  • Bruce Wilson – DWI first offense
  • Shaun Johnson – DWI first offense
  • Danmarquez Moore – DWI first offense
  • Bravion Shyne – DWI first offense
  • Christina Walker – DWI fourth offense
  • Jonathan Kinsey – DWI first offense
  • Jaquavius Morgan – DWI third offense

"We are extremely proud of the work done by our officers over the holiday weekend. The Shreveport Police Department’s award-winning DWI Unit continues to set the standard across the State of Louisiana," Bordelon said. "Driving impaired is not a mistake. It is a choice — and it is a choice that can cost innocent people their lives."
