SHREVEPORT, La. — Sci-Port Discovery Center has received a $30,000 grant from Amazon Web Services to build out its sensory accessibility offerings.

The funds will support a KultureCity sensory inclusion project designed to assist neurodivergent children, adults and families, including individuals with autism, post-traumatic stress disorder and sensory processing needs.

The grant will directly target four initiatives:

  1. Building dedicated sensory rooms and spaces
  2. Distributing sensory bags and installing facility signage
  3. Providing comprehensive staff training and certification
  4. Establishing sustained long-term community impact

"We are profoundly grateful to Amazon Web Services for their incredible generosity and shared vision for our community," said Dianne Clark, Sci-Port Discovery Center executive director. "Their support goes far beyond funding. It reflects a true commitment to ensuring every family in our region can engage with STEM learning in a safe and comfortable environment."

Sci-Port Discovery Center provides hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) educational experiences in Shreveport.
