SHREVEPORT, La. - Louisiana Task Force 3 is sending a Type 3 swift water team to Texas to help communities facing severe weather and flash flooding.

The task force was requested to provide specialized personnel, water-rescue equipment, and operational resources to support emergency efforts.

The team is scheduled to leave from the Shreveport Fire Department Maintenance Facility on Mansfield Road at 7 a.m. Wednesday. The initial mission is planned for a seven-day period, but the schedule could change depending on local needs.

Eight local responders have been chosen for the deployment:

  • Heath Sexton — Bossier City Fire Department
  • Luke Sanders — Caddo Fire District 4
  • Brandon St. Amant — Caddo Fire District 4
  • David Burden — Shreveport Fire Department
  • Chris Shadoin — Shreveport Fire Department
  • Trey Jordan — Shreveport Fire Department
  • Colt Godwin — Shreveport Fire Department

Shreveport Fire Chief Clarence Reese, Jr. praised the team's readiness, noting that these highly trained members represent the strength of regional cooperation and are prepared to work in challenging flood conditions. He asked the community to keep the responders, their families, and the affected Texas communities in their thoughts during the deployment.
