TEXARKANA, Texas -- Shelves were starting to empty at Texarkana's Target store on the final day of the Texas Sales Tax Holiday.
As the three-day holiday wraps up, Manager Renea Booker said that despite the rain, Saturday was still the busiest day.
Booker has been with the store since 2015 and said she believes this year is the busiest she has ever seen.
"We have seen a significant increase in sales this year, I think we have a lot of budget-friendly guests that are trying to save every dollar they can," said Booker. "We haven't completely run out of any one particular item; our 25-cent Mondo Llama crayons, we are out of, hopefully we'll get some more in this week to wrap up."
Since most of Texarkana's meet-the-teachers will be happening Monday before going back to school, the heavier traffic is expected to continue, said Booker.
The Texas Sales Tax Holiday runs through midnight on Sunday.
