TEXARKANA, Texas — Two people are behind bars following an ATM theft in Texarkana after investigators used technology and surveillance footage to trace the suspects across state lines.
According to the Texarkana Texas Police Department, data gathered from Flock cameras and video surveillance helped detectives quickly identify the vehicles associated with the theft and map out the suspects' travel path.
While the technology provided critical leads, police emphasized that it works in tandem with standard law enforcement procedures.
"It's just another tool that the detectives, you know, we're able to use," said Shawn Vaughn, Texarkana Texas Police Department spokesman. "It's still required for them to be able to put all the pieces together and do, you know, the investigative work behind it."
Officers arrested Keanu White, 29, and Andreana White, 28, near Malvern, Ark., just hours after the theft took place. During the arrest, authorities recovered cash from the suspects' vehicle that is believed to have been taken from the ATM. Keanu White and Andreana White are being held in Hot Springs County.
