FRIERSON, La. — Two drivers were killed in a head-on collision early Friday morning on Louisiana Highway 175 near Scott Road in DeSoto Parish.
Louisiana State Police identified the victims as 49-year-old Carlos Helm of Mansfield and 39-year-old Alonzo Thompkins of Arlington, Texas. Investigators believe Helm was traveling north in a 2020 Chevrolet Traverse when the vehicle crossed the centerline, striking Thompkins’ 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe head-on.
Both men were wearing seat belts but were pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say impairment is not currently suspected, though toxicology samples were submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
