TEXARKANA, Texas — Motorists traveling through Texas are being urged to ease up on the gas as the Texas Department of Transportation's "Operation Slowdown" initiative continues through Sunday.
Law enforcement officers across the state are increasing patrols to crack down on speeding. TxDOT notes that speeding remains a leading cause of deadly crashes in Texas, contributing to more than 1,200 fatalities last year.
