ALBERTON, Mont. - Firefighters from the Lolo National Forest and Frenchtown Rural Fire department responded to a new wildfire that broke out around three miles southeast of Alberton on Saturday night, according to the Lolo National Forest.
The fire is around 2.25 acres in size, according to the forest service. It was caused by lightning.
The forest service said a helicopter assisted ground crews with bucket drops before more storms move over the area. Full containment on the fire is expected by Sunday evening, but additional storms may cause more fire starts.
