HELENA, MT- Alani Bankhead the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Montana, still a new comer to politics in the state of Montana has called the state home since roughly 2021.
Bankhead sat for an interview with NonStop Local today the topic of policy and the state of the race. She says she never saw herself in politics ever, but as third generation military she Felt that she had something to offer.
She’s a retired Lieutenant Colonel Special Agent and over 20 years according to her, hunting spies, terrorists, and child predators all over the world, she also was a senior Pentagon bodyguard when and ran a coaching consulting business for Christian women.
Bankhead says shes a Christian at her core and those beliefs of guided her through difficult times in the military and in day to day life.
On a political front she looks up to Montana politicians like Jeanette Rankin but nationally admires for different reasons, people like Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Angela Merkel, Jacinda Ardern from New Zealand, and George W. Bush. She did point out flaws in President Bush but enjoyed him and his communication style.
Bankhead said she voted for John McCain and for President Obama in different elections.
In response to remarks made at a press conference she hosted about dropping out, she said someone like Penny Ronning who previously ran in Montana and lost would be someone she would support. She said she would not get out of the race for a Jon Tester, Brian Schweitzer, or a Steve Bullock.
She double down that she is in it to win it.
