HELENA, Mont. — Fair season is underway in Helena as crowds filled the Lewis and Clark County Fairgrounds for the Last Chance Stampede and Fair.

NonStop Local walked through the fairgrounds and found busy carnival rides, games, vendors, food stands and an animal exhibit with a camel and a kangaroo.

Fair organizers said they expect thousands of people to attend during the week. They said the event helps bring together one of the biggest annual gatherings in the capital city.

“To be able to be a part of it is not only fun and exciting, but it’s great because the community gets excited. Families come out and enjoy themselves. It’s just really great to be a part of it and help everything come to life for everybody,” Cory Popp said.

Concerts have already started, with Daughtry opening the Stampede shows alongside special guest Tim Montana.

More events are still ahead during the week, including Travis Tritt on Wednesday, the Last Chance Rodeo and the parade planned for the weekend.
