MISSOULA, Mont. - Firefighters responded to a kitchen fire in an apartment on Bow Street over the weekend.
On scene crews saw smoke coming from the upper-level apartment and found the fire on a stovetop with flames extending into the cabinets and the ceiling.
The City of Missoula Fire Department reports the fire was quickly put out and that they shut off power to the apartment to turn off the stove burner.
Fire was contained to just the kitchen area and everyone inside the building was safely evacuated.
At this time the cause of the fire is under investigation.
The fire department is reminding people to not leave the kitchen when cooking, to keep combustibles away from stovetops and to have working smoke alarms.
