LOLO NATIONAL FOREST, Mont. – Lolo National Forest said downed trees from last winter's wind events mean some areas, like Missoula Lake, are not accessible for Fourth of July weekend.
It said Missoula Lake and the upper camping area of Heart Lake were inaccessible due to "drifted snow and downed trees.”
However, it said Heart Lake Trail, Pearl Lake Trail and Dalton Lake Trail via the Stateline trail had been cleared of downed trees and are now accessible.
“Please recreate responsibly this weekend. Remember to 'Know before you go', and pack it in and pack it out. Also, remember that fireworks are illegal in all National Forests,” the forest department said.
