MacKay, a multi-disciplinary infrastructure and environmental services firm based in Vancouver, Washington, announced Wednesday the acquisition of Pioneer Technical Services, a consulting firm headquartered in Butte.
Pioneer, located at 1101 S. Montana St., specializes in engineering and environmental services and has regional offices in Billings, Bozeman, Helena, Libby and Kellogg, Idaho.

According to a news release, the acquisition will expand MacKay's growing geographic footprint and strengthen its capacity to support clients with enhanced technical expertise, resources and local presence.
“The integration supports the long-term growth objectives of both firms, creating new professional paths for employees, diversifying the client base, and providing access to broader organizational depth and resources,” said Smith.

Ranf will serve as vice president of MacKay's intermountain region, leading the region's operations and supporting the continued growth of the firm's presence throughout the region.
Pioneer was founded in 1991 and is an employee-owned firm. MacKay was established more than 50 years ago, serving public and private sector clients across the United States.
