MISSOULA, Mont. — Fire crews were working two small new wildfires in the Ninemile Ranger District after they were spotted from the air on July 17.
A Facebook post from the Lolo National Forest said both fires were started by lightning and measured about 0.1 acres. Because both spots were hard to reach, crews sent a helicopter to drop water and called in the Kootenai Rappel Crew.
The Crater Lake Fire was reported 8.5 miles southwest of Tarkio and one mile east of Crater Lake. The Siamese Fire was reported 13 miles southwest of Tarkio and two miles east of Siamese Lake.
The Lolo National Forest said it would share more updates as they became available.
