The Williamson County Commissioners Court has issued a countywide burn ban effective at 11:05 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, for up to 90 days due to increased drought conditions.
The Commissioners Court or county judge may lift the order earlier if conditions improve.
Under the order, it is a violation to burn any combustible material outside an enclosure that contains all flames and sparks or to authorize another person to do so. The ban includes burning household yard waste such as leaves, grass, brush and other trimmings. It also prohibits burning trees, stumps, shrubs or other vegetation to clear land.
Any duly commissioned peace officer may enforce the order. A violation is a Class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $500.
