Boaters navigating near the Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge are being directed to a new channel farther east, on the Senneville side, as construction of the replacement bridge continues.
The Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité (MTQ) durable says the navigation channel beneath the bridge has been relocated. Boaters are being asked to use the marked channel, reduce their speed near the construction zone, and keep their distance from construction barges.
The latest change is part of a series of adjustments to the boating route as work progresses on the new Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge.
The navigation channel was previously moved to a secondary marked channel at span 14 of the old bridge. It was later moved again to span 16, where the current navigation route passes between piers 16 and 17.

The repeated relocations are tied to the ongoing reconstruction of the bridge, which has been under way since fall 2023. The new bridge is being built north of the existing structure.
The existing bridge has 44 piers and has served as an important link between Vaudreuil-Dorion and the western part of the Montreal region.
The first new bridge structure is expected to open in late 2026, with the second structure scheduled to open in 2027. Demolition of the existing bridge is expected to be completed in 2029, with final project work continuing into 2030.
For boaters, the transport ministry is stressing that the construction zone requires particular caution. Boats should remain within the buoy-marked channel, travel slowly to avoid creating waves, and keep their distance from construction barges.
Waves generated by passing boats can interfere with construction work and create safety risks for workers and boaters.
Further changes to the navigation channel are possible as construction of the new bridge progresses.
