Quebec is undertaking an animal vaccination program to control the spread of rabies among raccoons because there’s been a significant increase in the number of infected raccoons in the Montérégie and Estrie regions and raccoon rabies has infected a stray (feral) cat in that region.

Bat rabies is still the most common type found in Quebec. It is found throughout the province in every bat species and it’s the one most commonly involved in people becoming exposed or infected in North America.
