John Abbott College teachers rallied outside the West Island CEGEP Tuesday, August 18, accusing the administration of creating a toxic and dysfunctional workplace and calling on Quebec's higher-education minister to intervene.

The demonstration, held as the 2026-27 academic year began, brought together faculty from John Abbott and delegations from other CEGEPs in a show of solidarity. The teachers' union says months of mounting labour disputes have damaged morale and strained relations between employees and the administration.
