The Abbaye d’Ardenne: Remembering Westmount’s Lieutenant Thomas Windsor

Lieutenant Thomas Alfred Lee Windsor and his grave at Bretteville-sur-Laize Canadian War Cemetery in Normandy.

The Second World War cast a long shadow across the world, as the foundations of freedom came under threat. Throughout Quebec, countless men and women stepped forward to serve, driven not by reward or recognition, but by duty. Among the brave souls who left Montreal and never came home was Lieutenant Thomas Alfred Lee Windsor.

Born on 10 November 1914 in Montreal, Windsor was the eldest son of Cora Wheeler and Alfred Windsor. His father worked in the Inspection Department of the Bank of Montreal. Windsor grew up in a loving household in Westmount, surrounded by his siblings and sharing countless cherished memories that would remain with him throughout his life.
