Pork carcass cutout values today increased 89 cents to $89.47, USDA said.

December lean hog futures closed higher but prices stayed within Friday’s trading range, the Hightower Report said. Retailer demand has been strong through National Pork Month, “But as the month progresses, the weather gets cooler and beef prices fall, traders are growing concerned that the pork demand will slip,” Hightower said.

Positive reports from cash and product markets helped lean futures gain today, DTN said. Analyst John Harrington expects steady to firm bids tomorrow morning compared with today’s close, with support from “excellent processing margins and firming carcass value.”
