Harvest is around the corner and manufacturers are unveiling new lines of machinery. Not all introductions are for large equipment. Small accessories are also becoming available.
The segment of small equipment used for landscaping services, hobby farmers and livestock has been strong for sales, according to Benjamin Duyck, director of market intelligence for the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM).
John Deere recently released new offerings from its Intelligent Solutions Group, including John Deere Harvest Mobile system, the John Deere Field Connect with a Gateway 3G upgrade and Wireless Radio Kit.
“These updates provide our customers with more functionality and service, which means higher levels of machine performance and decision-making in the field,” says Kathy Sponheim, senior product manager for John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group.
John Deere Harvest Mobile optimizes machine function to improve grain harvesting operations. It also features data collection and transfer to help operators make timely decisions with a simple, usable interface that makes harvest information easily available to operators and trusted advisers.
The new John Deere Field Connect Gateway 3G and Field Connect Wireless Radio options provide users with a wider range of service when installed in the field for remote moisture and environmental sensing.
All new units will be shipped with 3G modems in the Field Connect Gateway. Current Field Connect users looking to upgrade units from 2G to 3G can do so at a low cost.
AGCO is unveiling the SOLO AGCO Edition drone. Unlike many other specialized unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), the SOLO AGCO Edition provides operators with hardware, software, service and support all in one package. The UAV can fly in up to 25 mph winds and has a maximum speed of 55 mph.
Each fully charged smart battery is capable of covering up to 60 acres, depending on conditions and user-defined settings, with an average flight time of 20 minutes, fully equipped. The kit comes with four batteries, providing the ability to scout up to 240 acres in one trip.
“We thought through everything a farmer needs to not only scout their fields, but also collect useful data beneficial to managing their farm and improving yields and efficiency,” says Jeff Punter, manager of purchasing for AGCO Parts.
The SOLO AGCO Edition is built on a 3D Robotics Solo platform and designed to evolve. This UAV utilizes a three-axis Solo Gimbal, accessory bay and swappable motor pods, allowing for easy integration of future technology and features.
GSI introduces grain bin
stairs, platforms
GSI launched a new line of sidewall stairs, roof stairs and platforms recently. The sidewall steps feature a new height designed to provide a comfortable rise/step combination.
The stairs provide a common design across all bin diameters and configurations, and include round tube handrails that allow farmers to keep their hand safely on the handrail at all times.
The newly designed roof stairs offer a safe and easy transition from platform to roof. They are offered in three sections to cover all roof combinations.
Three new options for platform placement are available, with single or double platform options.
