A field day on the Prairie STRIPS project was held at the Dick Sloan farm near Rowley, Iowa. The Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture has funded the project which has shown that planting a small amount of land to prairie strips can have a big impact on soil erosion, nutrient retention and also creates pollinator habitat.

DES MOINES — In a move that caught many in the agricultural community off guard last week, Republicans in the Iowa legislature proposed eliminating the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture at Iowa State University.
