Altimmune ALT has entered a more capital-intensive stage with pemvidutide advancing across metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), alcohol use disorder (AUD) and alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD). Its larger cash position gives the company more room to execute.

The investment case remains balanced. Pemvidutide offers several clinical paths to value creation, but Altimmune still depends on one experimental drug, faces a long pivotal timeline and may need more capital for additional late-stage development.
