Topline: Bandit, Tater and Duck are the newest horses in Sheriff Chad Anderson’s mounted patrol unit in Bates County, Missouri. Silver and the Lone Ranger they are not. 

The mounted patrol unit has only been used for law enforcement purposes in Bates County one time, a recent state audit found. Five horses were euthanized or sold in just a few years.
