After nearly seven months of being shuffled through detention facilities across three states, during which he faced health problems in unsanitary conditions, Bridgton resident Marcos Gaspar-Da Silva was granted lawful permanent residency and released from a facility in Arizona.

His wife, Alessia Gaspar-Da Silva, was his first call once he got out, sharing the news with her just as she was boarding her final flight to pick him up. He greeted her at the airport Thursday evening with flowers and carried her bags out, taking care of her after she spent months fighting for his release.
