In Louisiana and the United States, higher education is central to the affordability crisis, and financial aid at the federal level is being withdrawn. 

Grad PLUS loans have been eliminated. Stricter caps on graduate borrowing decrease aid available to pay for pathways into high-need professions such as nursing and social work. Subsidized federal student loans, that save students thousands of dollars in interest over the lifetime of the loan, are on the chopping block in the House’s proposed funding bill for next fiscal year.
