SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Regional Health District announced it was working with the Washington State Department of Health Vital Records Team to help people who lost birth certificates in the Spokane Area fires.
The agencies said that free replacement birth certificates for people born in Washington state were available Aug. 11-12 at the Spokane Complex Fire Disaster Assistance Center at Shadle Park High School.
“We understand the burden our neighbors face when they lose important documents,” Aja Richardson, SRHD's Vital Records program manager, said. “SRHD and our partners at Washington DOH are here to help people get the new documents they need.”
Officials said that other records, including driver's licenses, Social Security cards, passports, marriage records and divorce records, were handled by other agencies. They encouraged people to contact the agency tied to each document to ask about replacement steps and any emergency help.
