OKLAHOMA CITY — Intense heat is expected to continue around Oklahoma as triple-digit temperatures increase in the next week.
The National Weather Service in Norman forecasts it will feel like between 105 to 110 degrees next week across Oklahoma. Actual temperatures are expected to reach 100 to 105 degrees.Â
John Pike, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said he expects heat advisories to continue to be issued around the state as temperatures rise.
Pike says next week’s temperatures are expected to be higher than normal for this time of the year, which are usually between the mid-to-upper 90s.Â
He recommends Oklahomans limit time outside, especially from afternoon to sundown, stay hydrated and be aware of the symptoms of heat exhaustion, which include dizziness, thirst, nausea and weakness.

Ahead of the temperature hikes, theOklahoma City Zoo announcedthat beginning Sunday the zoo’s public visiting hours will be shortened to 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The abbreviated schedule will run through Thursday though its summer camps and preschool program will continue as normal.Â
The zoo encouraged visitors to use water refill stations and find shaded areas around the park.
