Joel Ferry, commissioner of the Utah Department of Natural Resources, is leaving the post after four years. But that doesn’t mean he won’t have a role in shaping the state’s approach to matters of water and energy development going forward.

Ferry said in an email to employees Monday that he’s stepping down to focus on his family, their farm and consulting in government affairs. In an interview Tuesday, he said it’s been “the job of a lifetime and a dream come true.”
