A Gallatin County judge opted not to follow a plea deal calling for probation in the case of a 57-year-old man who pleaded guilty in June to witness tampering — a case in which the defendant was originally accused of assaulting his wife, Catherine Sorensen, in 2022. Sorensen taught music at St. Mary's Catholic School in Livingston before her death in 2023 at age 55.
