(Legal Newsline) — An Illinois state appeals court will allow the mayor of Burr Ridge to resume his defamation lawsuit accusing a political consultant who worked for his political rival for allegedly falsely accusing him of not paying the full amount owed on his property taxes.

Tech giant Apple could be facing a potentially massive payout, after a federal judge said she will allow an Illinois biometrics class action to advance accusing Apple of allegedly illegally scanning and identifying the faces of millions of people who were imaged in photos uploaded through iPhones and other devices to Apple's Photos app.

The Missouri Court of Appeals Eastern District has affirmed a circuit court ruling granting summary judgment in favor of the Board of Curators of the University of Missouri in a defamation lawsuit brought by the former St. Louis Public Radio general manager, concluding that the university was protected by sovereign immunity and had not waived that protection through its insurance policies.
