Imagine Monkland, the name by which the NDG street festival now goes, was called The Flavours of Monkland 10 years ago. The new edition kicked off on Thursday, 10 years to the day of the Tragically Hip’s final concert, which was broadcast on a giant screen at the corner of Melrose, and all over the country on CBC.

Ten years ago, iconic Canadian band The Tragically Hip took the stage for the final time in their hometown of Kingston, Ontario. One third of the population tuned into the historic 2016 show live on CBC, and as the broadcast unfolded, the nation stood still.
