TEXARKANA, Ark. - The Texarkana Winds Ensemble performed their finale of the summer concert series, "Celebrating America."

The one-hour free concert featured American patriotic music for downtown Texarkana at the Gallery of 1894.

The score included an all-time favorite, "American Fanfare;" a tribute piece to the U.S. military, entitled "Armed Forces on Parade;" and the Star-Spangled Banner and two originals written by Micha Bell, the featured trumpeter.

PR Officer Colby Calhoun said he appreciated the crowd that came out to support local volunteer musicians.

"Everyone on the stage is local, community members, a lot of high school students, a lot of band directors," said Calhoun. "I myself, I'm just a community member that plays trumpet and wanted to get involved; so, it's a lot of mixed people from all over town, all over the area, they're just looking to play an instrument, and have fun while doing it."

Main Street Texarkana partnered with Texarkana Winds to present their second concert for Downtown Live, which is every second Friday of the month.
The previous concert was in June, featuring vocalist Candace Taylor.
