Marcye Scott, the daughter of the late Congressman David Scott, fell short of winning a special election to finish her father’s term in office and will face former Gwinnett County School Board chair Everton Blair in a runoff next month.

The Associated Press made the call at around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday. As of late Tuesday night, Scott led with 46% of the vote, according to unofficial results from the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office. Blair came in second with about 37% of the vote.
