State regulators have suspended, without explanation, a nursing home administrator’s license to practice in Iowa.
The Iowa Board of Nursing Home Administrators says that in April 2025, it received a complaint against the licensee Marcy Louise Martin, 51, concerning the “management of facility funds and documentation.”
The board says the allegations, which it did not disclose, “remain disputed and unadjudicated,” and says no final findings of fact or conclusions of law have been reached. Martin, the board says, admits no wrongdoing.
However, the board says, in order to “meet the board’s interest in protecting the public” Martin and the board have agreed that Martin shall not practice as a nursing home administrator or engage in any conduct that requires a license to practice as a nursing home administrator in Iowa.
As a result, the board says, the status of Martin’s license is being changed to “suspended.”
The action is being taken without any formal statement of charges being filed against Martin, and without her agreeing to surrender her license. It’s an unusual move for a state licensing board, which typically files formal charges against a licensee, which are then made public, before any sanctions such as a license suspension are imposed.
Stat records indicate Martin was first licensed by the board in May 2017, and that she has worked as a nursing home administrator at the Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer.
The Iowa Capital Dispatch was not able to reach Martin for comment. Board records indicate she now lives in Stewartville, Minnesota.
