IOWA CITY – Morgan Newman was a 24-year-old dental assistant when she was diagnosed with cervical cancer, a disease that is more common in women ages 35-64.

“I had a metastatic recurrence to my lungs,” Newman, of Norwalk, said as she sat by her mom, Kendra, at an event Friday at Sidekick Coffee & Books in Iowa City. “She sat by my side and watched me go through everything I did.”
